Freshly painted SD70IACs 1230 and 1231 lead OCS 955 west through HSC. 1231 was finished the morning of the 8th, with 1230 being finished earlier that week. From front to rear, the cars were NS 39, Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky, New Orleans, West Virginia, and Missouri. The train was heading to Birmingham for a city hall opening, and this was the new engines first trip. |

After heading down south for the week, the OCS makes its return back to Altoona with 1230 leading 1231, and six OCS cars in the consist. The train flew from Mansfield to Conway, then proceeded to take hours from Conway to Altoona, partially due to a stop at Conpitt junction. By the time it had hit Altoona, night had fallen and snow began to fall. |
